Privacy

Written on 6 October 2026, and in effect from that day. If it changes, the date here changes, and the page says what changed.

Who we are

Solvocracy is run from Graton, California. This page says what personal information the site collects, why, who handles it for us, and what you can ask us for.

What we collect

If you only read, we count the pages you open and the kind of browser and device you use, with Vercel Analytics, which sets no cookie and does not follow you to other sites. The companies that host us also keep ordinary server logs for a short time, and those include the internet address your device connects from.

If you write to us through the contact form or the takedown form, we keep your name, your email address and what you wrote, so that we can answer.

If you have an account, we keep your email address, the username you choose, your password in a scrambled form that nobody can read back, a cookie that keeps you signed in, and what you write, vote on and upload in your groups. We keep a picture of you only if you add one.

When you accept an invitation or sign up, we keep the moment you agreed to the terms and which version of them you agreed to.

If you choose to show that you are a person with a phone or a card, we keep only what proves it. For a phone, we keep a scrambled fingerprint of the number, never the number itself. For a card, Stripe checks it on its own page; we never see the card number, and we keep only Stripe’s fingerprint of the card, its kind, and whether the name on it matched yours.

Who handles it for us

These companies process personal information for us, each only for the job named here, under their own privacy policies.

Supabase
Stores the database, the files you upload, and your sign-in.
Everywhere you have an account.
Vercel
Runs the website. Vercel Analytics counts visits without cookies.
Every page.
Sentry
Receives a report when something on the site breaks: the page, the browser, and what went wrong.
Every page.
Resend
Sends our email: invitations, sign-up links, notices you asked for, and our replies.
Every email we send.
Anthropic
Runs the AI features. When you use one, or when a picture or file you upload is checked before it is shown, what that feature needs is sent to Anthropic to be read and answered. The map’s first guesses about organisations are written the same way, from their own public words.
The AI features, the upload check, and the map.
Cloudflare Turnstile
Checks that you are a person and not a program. Cloudflare sees your browser and its internet address to make that check.
The sign-up page only.
Twilio Verify
Sends a code to your phone and checks it.
Only if you choose to show you are a person with a phone, from your settings.
Stripe
Checks a card on its own page, without charging it.
Only if you choose to show you are a person with a card, from your settings.
Your browser’s push service
Carries a notice to a device where you turned notifications on, encrypted so that the service cannot read it.
Only if you turn notifications on.

Who else sees it

A group’s private work is seen by its members and nobody else. What a group chooses to make public shows under each writer’s username, never their email address.

We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and no other company collects information about what you do across other websites through ours.

We give personal information to anyone else only when the law requires it, such as a court’s order, or when we must report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, as the law requires.

Asking for a copy, a correction or deletion

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to us through the contact form, from the email address on your account, and we answer within thirty days.

You can change your username and your picture yourself, in your settings.

Deleting your account deletes your private record. Words you wrote on a public page stay, because a public record is not quietly edited, but we take your username off them, so they no longer say who wrote them.

A group’s sponsor can download the group’s whole record at any time, and a group can ask us to delete it.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send a signal called Do Not Track. We do not track you across other websites whether your browser sends it or not, so the signal changes nothing here.

Children

Solvocracy is for adults. You must be 18 or older to have an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and if we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it.

Biometric information

Solvocracy collects no biometric information today: no face scans, no fingerprints of your body, no voice prints. If that ever changes, this paragraph will say what is collected, why, who handles it, how long it is kept and when it is destroyed, before anything is collected.

Keeping it safe

Your information travels over encrypted connections and is stored behind rules the database itself enforces about who may read what. Files you upload are stored privately and shown only to the people allowed to see them.

When this page changes

When this page changes, the date at the top changes and the page says what changed. If a change would use your information in a new way, we tell members by email before it takes effect.

The contact form. The terms.
